Update! Employment!

Hello blog world!
I know it has been a while since I have last spoke. Let update you on my summer so far. Yes, I am currently not employed as a teacher.  Big surprise! I applied in probably 7 different counties, and received one interview as an instructional special education aide. I have to say it has been one rough summer. I have been through all the stages of grief.  Denial( deny, deny , deny the fact we can’t get a job), anger( whatever, I don’t need that job anyways), bargaining( I will do anything), depression( Cry, Cry, Cry. I must be an awful teacher) and acceptance ( well, let’s keep on truckin).
The other day I actually talked to people that were not my family about how I am feeling, and what is going on. My doctors! Strange right? First my primary physician threw a fit about why I can’t find a job. “How can you not find a teaching job?”  Response,” I am not what they are looking for I guess.” His answer, “Their morons.” My answer to his response, “ eh.”  He continued on about how things have changed, how it shouldn’t be so hard to find a job, blah blah blah.  Also he mentioned I am to smart, and self-motivated to be working for anything less than 60,000 a year starting off. (looks like I am in the wrong profession! I should have been a doctor!)
Then my trusty chiropractor (might be kin as well) gives it to me straight. “I hear the district has over 4,000 open applications.”  I say, “Well,  then that’s why I can’t even get a job as the custodian”. ( jokes)   He says, “ I am sure they wouldn’t hire you to scrub vomit and (bad word) off the bathroom floor, because your over qualified. “
OVER QUALIFIED is a huge word that us unemployed teachers hear all the time. Well, we know that, but we are struggling to feed ourselves, and we will do anything at this point just to be in the career we love.
Don’t think this is a hate statement to the districts out there. They are struggling too. They are letting people go left and right, and turning people down at the same rate. It is NOT their fault I can’t get my foot in the door. It is the reality of the world we live in. Like I mentioned in the blog there are 4,000 people applying for the same job. My primary doctor can say whatever he wants, but he has a job as a DOCTOR.
I do also want to congratulate all of my friends who did receive jobs! I am so happy for all of you! You wouldn’t be a friend of mine if I didn’t think you were already wonderful.
I also do want to update you on my EMPLOYMENT status. I am working at an unnamed company (which I will talk about in my blogs for a while) working third shift stocking shelves. (the money is decent. I can get benefits, and I can work full time real soon)  I am sure you can guess what “company” it is. I am actually excited to start the job. I need to be humbled in my life now that I am out of college.  Have you ever seen the new movie  “ Take me home tonight”? That is my life story at this point without the fake job at a bank, and I am not a dude.  If you haven’t seen it, don’t worry about renting it.  I told you the whole movie in a total of 21 words. I hope you keep looking for me out there in the blog world, and continue this journey with me!
